The Llanelli Scarlets have unveiled Link Telecom as their first ever partner for the region’s extensive community programme.
Keighley-based Link Telecom has long been a household name across its north of England trading heartland but is now hoping its six-figure, two-year deal will enhance its growing reputation throughout Wales.
A delighted Scarlets Commercial Director Gareth Davies said: “Link Telecom is a large nationwide presence in the telecoms industry. They have a track record of supporting community causes as well. It is particularly pleasing to be attracting such a big name to work with us in such an important area.
“I strongly believe our community work is crucial both in terms of reaching our audience across a very large geographical area and in terms of getting into the hearts and minds of young fans. I am also pleased to say that the programme for the 2007/08 season will be bigger than ever before. This year our scheme will include well over 100 player appearances throughout the season. These include an increased presence in the schools throughout the region and a repeat of the very successful Scarlets on the Road scheme, which we instigated last year.”
The Scarlets’ community scheme will see all the primary and secondary schools in Llanelli receive a visit while schools in the Amman Valley will also be visited. Elsewhere in the region schools in Carmarthen, Llandovery, Aberystwyth, Narberth, Haverfordwest and Pembroke will also get the full Scarlet treatment and club mascot Cochyn will also be making numerous appearances, in particular, visiting all primary schools in Llanelli.
Link Telecom managing director Gary Fawcett said: “Wales is an important growth area and we are delighted to enter into a sponsorship deal with Llanelli Scarlets, which will help raise both our presence and profile across the region.”
