The Scarlets Community Rugby Department, in conjunction with Brace's and Link Telecom, is committed to helping young people understand the importance of leading a healthy, active lifestyle.

Scrum-ptious Scarlets sandwich
Brace’s Bakery and the Scarlets would like to thank all the youngsters that have entered a competition to design a Scrum-ptious Scarlets sandwich.
Brace’s, the healthy living partner for the Llanelli Scarlets, organised the competitions in the Llanelli Star and Carmarthen Journal.
To enter, children up to the age of 11, had to design a Scarlets sandwich. The two lucky winners, 11 year old Amy Richards-Davies of Tavernspite CP School and 8 year old Alexandra John of Ysgol Gymraeg Par Y Tywyn received enough tickets to take along their entire class to the game against the Cardiff Blues at Stradey Park on Friday 21st March with a parent.
School Children onto a Winner with the Scarlets and Brace’s
School pupils from Llanelli and Kidwelly tucked into some healthy living advice from the Llanelli Scarlets and Brace’s Bread.
Staff from the rugby region and baker visited Stebonheath Community Primary School on February 21 and Gwenllian Community Primary School on February 22 with a food advisor from healthy living partner Brace’s. The interactive presentation included a close look at Brace’s bread-making process. The visit was part of the Scarlets community activity programme which promotes healthy lifestyles.
Scarlets head of community, Jon Daniels, said: “We look forward greatly to these visits – the children really appreciate our strengthening of their school’s healthy living messages. The Scarlets appreciate the expertise that Brace’s bring.”
Scott Richardson, sales and marketing director at the family baker, said: “We’re committed to promoting healthy, active lifestyles for young people, and it’s wonderful to be part of the Scarlets community programme.”
The programme includes a series of visits to schools. Pupils enjoy a healthy eating question and answer session with players, a visit from club mascot Cochyn, skills sessions and the Brace’s presentation. The baker’s involvement is part of a deal with the region that sees Brace’s sponsoring the Stradey Park family enclosure and scoreboard. Mr Richardson said: “There’s so much pride and passion for the Scarlets that it’s a natural fit for Brace’s - which is extremely proud to be Welsh and have a passion for baking the finest and freshest products - to work with them.”
Mr Daniels said: “Sport and physical activity have significant benefits for children and young people, including improving health, enhancing self-esteem and improving social and moral development. Our community programme encourages healthy, active lifestyles.”
