It's the first time that hot tubs have featured in a Welsh home rugby game as the Scarlets look to attract a new student audience for the Friday night fixture. Students are being offered £10 tickets for the game and Scarlets staff have been visiting colleges and universities this week to spread the word. To add to the party atmosphere, the stadium exterior will also play host to fairground rides in the pre-match build-up.
And Scarlets players Rhys Priestland, Josh Turnbull and Dominic Day were joined by Miss Carmathenshire to kick off the campaign. Natasha Suliman, a big Scarlets fan herself said: "I think it's a brilliant idea, and should be lots of fun. I'm sure those who win will be delighted with watching a great rugby game from inside a hot tub, what could be better!"
Scarlets Commercial Director, Rupert Moon said: "We are looking to bring in new audiences and supporters this season as well as re-connecting with our loyal, dedicated supporters - it's all about being one big Scarlets family.
"So it's important that we try new things and look to capture the imagination of new Scarlets supporters. We've seen hot tubs work really well in other sports like rugby league and cricket so why not rugby! It's something a bit quirky, gives our match days an element of fun - hopefully it will raise a few smiles and will certainly warm-up a winter evening fixture for our lucky winners!
"We've launched the competition to win a place in the hot tub on the Scarlets Facebook page this week and it's already getting a lot of attention."
