Above: Scarlets players Ken Owens and Jon Davies celebrate the launch of a new initiative with Anthony Jones and Delwyn Jones of TAD Builders based in Llanelli to reward great achievements by pupils at comprehensive schools across Carmarthenshire.

The scheme will see comprehensive school pupils able to win themselves a season ticket for the 2010/2011 rugby calendar at Parc y Scarlets which includes all the drama and excitement of European rugby in the Heineken Cup.

School pupils aged 11-18 in any school in Carmarthenshire will be nominated by their schools to be awarded the special prize, sponsored by TAD Builders for outstanding achievements - whether academic, sport or social. The winners will receive Scarlets season tickets.

The innovative new scheme has had the backing of the education sector in Carmarthenshire and will see groups of secondary school pupils who have been nominated by their schools for great achievements enjoying a series of home games at Parc y Scarlets.

Anthony Jones of TAD Builders Ltd which works extensively in the education sector said: "This is about inspiring young people to contribute fully in their school life as well as giving them a great reward for their achievements.

"The Scarlets are working closely within the community to inspire and develop young talent in rugby throughout the region and this gives more school children the chance to be part of the great Scarlets family and see their heroes in action this season.

"Parc y Scarlets is an excellent stadium and has great facilities for all the family as well as groups of young people. As part of their focus to encourage more young supporters to enjoy rugby, we are delighted to be sponsoring such an innovative and valuable new schools initiative.

"Sport is a way to inspire and motivate young people - watching rugby is a great way for groups of friends to enjoy an afternoon out in a secure, safe and fun environment.

Rupert Moon, Commercial Director of the Scarlets said: "We are very grateful to TAD Builders in Llanelli for being so community-minded company and for providing sponsorship of this exciting new scheme which will reward success and special contributions by secondary school pupils in their school life.

"This is part of our focus to allow groups of young adults to enjoy Scarlets rugby in a safe, secure environment and to have a great day out with their friends.

"For as little as £16, secondary school aged young supporters can enjoy 13 games of rugby at Parc y Scarlets on an enclosure ticket - that's about £1.30 a game. And there aren't many other day's out that offer that much value for money! So we are saying, come down as a group of friends, have a fun day out and support your rugby heroes this season."
