The Scarlets secured a fourth consecutive victory and are now undefeated in their last five games against English clubs, following a determined performance to win away at Wasps.
With another win under their belts away, the Scarlets now sit with a five point lead at the top of Pool 3 in the LV=Cup on 11 points and have edged closer to a semi-final spot.
Head Coach Nigel Davies said he was delighted by his young Scarlets side's spirited 18 - 13 victory, praising the character of the team and said the investment in giving up and coming players plenty of game time was paying off.
Davies: "The last couple of months has been huge for a lot of these players and they have grown in confidence. We've invested in this group over the past 18 months, there have been times when it's been a bit painful, but we are starting to see the rewards now on the field and these guys have a real belief in themselves.
"In the past few weeks, they've come up against some of the top teams in Europe and we've ground out some important victories and the players will take a huge amount out of that performance once again.
"Adams Park is difficult place to come to and get any sort of result from, so we are really delighted with this win.
"We have done three quarters of the job now, and we have to finish it off with a big result against the Blues at Parc y Scarlets next Saturday afternoon. Sometimes it's more difficult to play against opposition you know well, but we've a good chance, we have put ourselves in a great position and have got to make sure we seal it now with a win at home."
Davies praised man of the match, Rhys Priestland for his composed and tactical performance with the boot, successfully kicking six out of seven and giving the Scarlets all 18 of their points.
He said: "Rhys is a fabulous player, he is as good as anything out there in terms of his ability and some of his tactical kicking is right up there. We saw the other side of his goal of his goal kicking today, we know he is more than capable of nailing those kicks and he showed that today.
"When that becomes a bigger part of his game, Rhys will be challenging for honours."
And the hero with the boot said the team was delighted with the win. Speaking straight after the match Rhys Priestland said: "It was great win, we dug in well at the end, we gave away two soft tries away in the first half, which we're disappointed with, but we showed that we can defend well in the second half.
"Wasps played some of the best rugby and we didn't play half as well as we could have at times, but we really pleased to come away with a win.
"It great that we have now won four games in a row, the squad is improving all the time, we have a lot of youngsters doing well which has got to be good for the region."
And the young fly-half said he hoped his success with the boot would continue: "I'm always working on my goal kicking and it came off today and hopefully I can maintain that form. I'm spending a lot of time on it, on my own as well as getting some support from Neil Jenkins and Steve (Jones) - he's not a bad kicker to have working with you!"
Wales international, British Lions and Scarlets hooker Matthew Rees who was released by Wales back for the Wasps match added: "It was lucky we had those three points at the end and it was a close finish, but from our point of view it was a great win up here and we're looking good in our pool now.
"We've been a bit frustrated with some of our results in the Magners League but we've had a few good wins recently and a great result out in Brive last week so it gave the boys some confidence coming up to Wasps. Let's hope we can continue and finish off the season on a high."
On his own performance ahead of Six Nations Rees said: "I was feeling pretty good out there, it's great to be back on the field and I'm looking forward to the Six Nations and hopefully being involved next Saturday."
