Scott Williams, who has been on the bench this season already for the Scarlets first team, scored an eye-catching try in the first half which saw Wales U20 blow away their French counterparts with a 35 point margin.
The 19-year old from Newcastle Emlyn, the hometown of the Scarlets’ Josh Turnbull, is being tipped as a similar player to Wales international and Scarlets star centre Jon Davies.
Kevin George, Head of the Scarlets Academy said: “Scott has been playing some great rugby for Wales U20, and really shone in the last couple of games. He has been one of the star performers in the team so far scoring a great try against France on Friday afternoon.
“He has been in the Scarlets Academy since he was 15 and been with Coleg Sir Gar for the past three years, where he’s studying sports science, while he develops and training with us at Parc y Scarlets.
“He is developing very well, has great strength and speed as well and has shown what he is capable of now on the international stage. We look forward to seeing him broaden his experience now as he looks to move up to senior level.”
Scott Williams said: “It’s been great experience with Wales U20, we have been training with the senior Wales squad at the Vale Resort which is brilliant facility.
“I’m really enjoying my rugby at the moment and just hope to keep improving on my game.
“We had a good game against France, we weren’t perhaps expected to win with such a margin, but we did well to go in at half time 12 – 3 up and then kept the momentum with us, it was a great effort by the team.”
Scott says his ambition is to move forward with the Scarlets and hopefully impress enough to secure a development contract with the region next season.
The Wales U20 team put six tries on the score sheet with a hat-trick from Ospreys Wing Kristian, as well as the Scarlets centre Scott Williams and James Loxton and full-back Dan Fish claiming Wales' remaining touchdowns.
Fly-half Matthew Jarvis kicked four conversions as the visitors' challenge was eclipsed.
Scott Williams was one of five Scarlets players in the U20 international side.
