Under the thick grey sky of a damp August afternoon, an energetic Scarlets team came to the field ready for battle and in confident mood, to honour one of Wales and Scarlets' most committed and popular wingers, Mark Jones.
The lively home side started with intent and found their way into Worcester's half early on and applied pressure on the visitors.
The opening points of the game went to Worcester however as their outside half, Andy Goode, made no qualms at finding the posts following a Scarlets penalty just short of the half way line.
A second penalty for Goode came seconds later near the same spot as the first and once again Goode converted to take their lead to six.
The Scarlets soon came back all fired up as legendary centre Regan King opened a hat-trick of first half tries for the home side - showing some return to form which will excite the Scarlets faithful. Scrum half Martin Roberts and outside half Rhys Priestland scored the other two.
Priestland converted all three tries as well as kicking a penalty following an offence by Worcester's winger Oriol Ripol which led to a yellow card.
The Scarlets young winger, 18 year-old George North showed why he's a great prospect for the future with a display that will encourage the Scarlets coaches who have invested heavily in developing youth within the region.
The home side went in at half time score ahead: Scarlets 24 Worcester 9
Ten minutes into the second half the Scarlets found themselves just metres from Worcester's try line. Centre Gareth Maule powered his way to the line and off-loaded to Roberts who crossed for his second try of the afternoon.
Moments later some brilliant individual play by Rhys Priestland led to a try by Damian Welch, and was later converted by Priestland.
With only five minutes remaining on the clock the Scarlets' defensive line gave way to Worcester's first try of the game, scored by former Scarlet Craig Gillies, and converted by Joe Carlisle.
The Scarlets players gave Mark Jones an emotional game to remember - befitting a great Scarlet and captain with a pleasing and positive pre-season win against Phil Davies' Worcester side.
Mark Jones' Testimonial Game was in aid of Ray Gravell & Friends Charitable Trust, Help for Heroes, Cure Leukaemia and Spinal Research Contact Rugby.
