
Some good individual play early on by full back Morgan Stoddart led to skillful passing by All Black centre Regan King, but the passed was deemed forward by the referee Gwyn Morris.

With ten minutes or so remaining on the clock, Head Coach Nigel Davies made early replacements as Daniel Evans replaced Morgan Stoddart at full-back who was taken off with a hamstring twinge as a precaution, and Rob McCusker, making his first appearance for the Scarlets following Wales' summer tour to New Zealand, as he replaced flanker Johnathan Edwards.
The visitors failed to capitalise on a second penalty and the score remained at 12-3 for the Scarlets.
With the Scarlets eager to get further points on the board the ball was passed seamlessly through the hands of the backline, with moves straight from the training pitch started by on-form outside half Priestland. The effortless nature of the Scarlets' ball handling resulted in a try for North Walian winger Andy Fenby in the corner.

It was the Chiefs who got the first points of the second half with a second penalty for outside half Gareth Steenson.
As the Scarlets pushed down into Exeter's half they put continued pressure on the visitors defensive line and a try came as prop Phil John stretched over the top of a ruck.
Moments after his try prop John was yellow carded as the Chiefs were adding pressure on the Scarlets' try line. The missing man in the Scarlets' line led to a push over try by the visitors. With a conversion from Steenson the score was Scarlets 24 Exeter 13.
Joe Ajuwa showed some of his rare talent as he put in a huge tackle on the opposition. And Vernon Cooper made his appearance for his testimonial game with 53 minutes on the clock.
Replacement scrum half Gareth Davies, who replaced Welsh international Tavis Knoyle, showed skill and composure as he mopped up a loose pass by the visitors, kicked ahead and re-gathered the ball. It was unfortunate that the ball later went wide.
Both teams lost some momentum mid way through the second half with loose passes and a little lack of direction. The Scarlets supporters were given a glimpse of excitement as the much talked about Samoan international, Jonny Fa'amatuainu, on loan from Bath Rugby, made his debut at Parc y Scarlets after 60 minutes of play.
With only ten minutes remaining a try and conversion came for Exeter which left the Scarlets with only a three point lead, and some considerable work to do for the remainder of the half.
As Priestland left the field following a knock to his left shoulder replacement fullback Daniel Evans took a penalty but it unfortunately went wide of the uprights.
Llanelli RFC's Dale Ford, who came on as a replacement for outside half Priestland, made a strong run to the corner, in a move that was started by Fa'amatuainu however Joe Ajuwa couldn't keep his foot in play.
The Scarlets were still full of energy to the very last second and were looking for work however they weren't clinical enough to complete the moves.
The noise was deafening in the South Stand as the Chiefs' drum fought against the chanting of the ever proud Scarlets as seconds ebbed away and the Scarlets secured a home win of 24 points to 20 against the Exeter Chiefs.
Scarlets will travel to Treviso next weekend for the opening weekend of the 2010-11 Magners League campaign, kick off 7.05pm (local time).
Parc y Scarlets' first game of the competitive season will be on Saturday 11th September against Connacht, kick off 3pm.
