The Scarlets were fully aware of the importance of this evening's game as they looked to right the wrongs of defeats against the Ospreys and Benetton Treviso in the last fortnight.

A victory at Parc y Scarlets was vital to get the winning momentum back on track ahead of next week's opening round of the Heineken Cup.

The boys didn't disappoint as they secured a 24-13 victory over fellow Welsh region Newport Gwent Dragons with Morgan Stoddart making a very welcome return to the field, after over a year out due to injury, scoring the winning try.

It was a confident start by the Scarlets as fullback Liam Williams caught a high ball with ease before outside half Aled Thomas kicked the ball down field to win territory.

It was a near early try for the Scarlets as centre Scott Williams went for the posts but the ball was knocked on in the tackle.

The first points of the evening came for the Dragons as Steffan Jones kicked a penalty safely.

The Scarlets responded with a penalty before the first try of the evening - Thomas kicked the ball across field and it was only centre Gareth Maule who realised that there was an opportune chance to ground the ball and get the try.

It was a long wait as the TMO deliberated, firstly if a penalty was kicked, and secondly if a try was scored!

The try was awarded - Scarlets were in the lead by 10 points to 3. Two more penalties came the Scarlets' way before the half time to take their lead to 16-3.

It wasn't until 23 minutes into the second half that we saw some added points on the board as the Dragons added a penalty before Adam Hughes' try was awarded with Prydie adding the conversion.

Stoddart put the icing on the cake for the Scarlets as he received a great pass from Priestland and sped towards the whitewash crossing the line in his first game in over 13 months.
