The Scarlets got the first points on the board when fullback Dan Evans latched on to a cross-field move, made a break and fed centre Jonathan Davies. The try was converted by Evans. Bath hit back but couldn’t break their duck due to errors, poor handling and impressive defence. After half an hour they were penalised close to their line and this resulted in clever play from centres Gareth Maule and Jonathan Davies, with wing Lee Williams crossing in the corner. The home side were 12-0 up.
With three minutes of the half to go Scarlets scrum-half Martin Roberts was yellow carded for a professional foul. Williams moved to No 9. Evans gave the Scarlets a three-point boost before the break with a penalty. It was all change in the second half with a lot of young and new faces handed a chance to prove their ability.
Bath got points on the board with a try from second row Danny Grewcock in the 49th minute. With five minutes to go the Scarlets conceded a penalty try which was converted. Backrow Josh Turnbull was yellow-carded.
With the last move of the game Bath’s Joe Maddock crossed to make the final score 17-15 to the visitors.
