U14/U15/U16 - Pre-academy - 40 players

Nominations from district teams via coaches and development officers.
The nominated players will train as a group once per week, looking at developing core skills in skill acquisition and conditioning.
The pre-academies will be based in 2 locations, The Scarlet's West pre-academy will be located in Haverfordwest and the East pre-academy will be located in Parc y scarlet's.

Scarlet's Academy- 14 players

Junior academy 16-18, selected from regional and national fixtures
Senior academy 18-20, selected from regional and national fixtures
Selected from Regional and International fixtures
Contracted to the region, full time education, around 15/20hrs rugby skills and conditioning
The academy has a holistic approach to player development, balancing training, playing, schooling and lifestyle constraints. The academy has a full time skills coach, conditioning coach and manager.
The academy players have contact with the senior environment and are on the national data base and regional progression plans.

Age Grade Teams U16 + U18

Nominations from district teams and Regional fixtures via coaches and development officers. A trial and identification process will be undertaken through the summer. Approx. 26 players selected
The age grade teams will play the other regions through the first part of the season, training in season once per week working on skills and game awareness
A competitive league season will be completed with a finals day that the top 2 teams at each age grade will contest
National U16 + U18 selection will take place after the completion of the age grade fixtures

Age Grade Team U20

Nominations from district teams and Regional fixtures via coaches and development officers. A trial and identification process will be undertaken. Approx. 26 players selected
3 National identification games will be played through November and a Welsh squad announce after the program.
