As well as being a full time professional rugby player Johnathan Edwards also doubles as the Scarlets’ very own Fireman Sam! Since 2007 he has been a retained fireman at Pontypridd Fire Station.

Born and raised in Llantwit Fardre Edwards was educated at Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen and is a fluent Welsh speaker. He joined the Scarlets in 2004 after spending time with Pontypridd, Cardiff and the Blues Academy. As an openside flanker he is one of a group of talented back row players vying for their place in the Scarlets starting XV at the moment.

During the 2011-12 season Edwards made 31 appearances across all competitions and scored 2 tries. He has been a regular member of the Wales 7s team in recent years and has also been captain.
